SONGS FOR THE OLD COUNTRY STAGE
TUi MAMAKi is a vocal explorer, performer and composer, born in France, raised in New Zealand and currently residing in Bulgaria. She can thank her musically adventurous troubadour family for giving her a taste for sounds from far-away places. In following her voice, she has travelled to Pay Basque, India and the Balkans to study musical techniques and traditions. Her flair for languages has facilitated the development of truly eclectic polyglot repertoire – as each language seems to bring out a different part of the vocal instrument – and has influenced her original compositions both as a singer songwriter and polyphonic ensemble leader. She tours in a variety of configurations including solo performance, a capella ensembles, live bands and interdisciplinary shows with visual, movement and circus artists.
