Transistor are a three-piece psychedelic rock band from Wellington. Transistor’s sound consists of distorted, earworm riffs, bombastic drumming and piercing, yet ethereal melodies, which on the recordings, are pulled together through a tight, loud lo-fi production sound, which is all orchestrated by frontman Lochie (vocals and guitar). Live, Transistor is expanded to a three-piece with the help of Riley (drums and backing vocals) and Hannah (bass), to bring these garage-psych songs to life, often pushing them into a louder and more intense realm, which helped land them an opening slot for Canadian psych-rock group Black Mountain at their 2016 Wellington gig. Transistor have also been recently named as Radioactive’s ‘Wellington Artist of the Year’, through Under The Radar’s 2016 Dirtbag Music Awards.
"If Transistor are this mind-blowingly awesome right now, in all likelihood they will reach a point where the vibration they create causes the universe to implode, so see them now & see them often "
"Great to hear the spirit of garage rock alive and well. Can’t help but think this would bring a smile to Martin Phillipps lips. "
