Flo Wilson is a composer, producer and artist based in Wellington, New Zealand. A recent graduate student in Sonic Arts from the New Zealand School of Music, her interests in music and art stem from embodied performance, spatial sound and immersive installations. She has exhibited and performed at a number of notable venues such as the Audio Foundation, Adam Art Gallery, and the Dowse as well composing and performing new works in collaboration with the New Zealand School of Dance Choreographic Season with dancer Katie Rudd. Following her professional debut at the Audacious Festival of Sonic Arts in Christchurch featuring both installation and performance art, Flo has recently debuted her first solo exhibition in Wellington too.
"'Flo makes the kind of music where you close your eyes to listen and you forget where you are. It completely surrounds you... It sounds like being in a Hayao Miyazaki film, just when things start to change from peaceful and beautiful to slightly sinister and unnerving. Jonathan Bree once described the sound to me as ‘Alien Love Sounds.’ If you’re not intrigued by now, you should be. "
